Charsfest 2016 was a great success: An opportunity for the whole village to come together for a fun packed day and evening.

So many people work very hard to make it happen it is difficult to thank everyone but here goes:

First thanks to  those people who ran stalls for the benefit of the recreation ground: The Baptist Chapel  Teas, Megan and Katie Clark’s crepe stall, Dave Whitley, John Webber and Greg  Thomson for the BBQ, The games from the ladies of Charsfield and Dallinghoo WI, Robert Kingston for manning the Sumo Wrestling, Alan Ward for his Tedapult, Dawn Chamness and her parents for the can game and duck fishing, Martin and Denise  Lynne and Tony Ford for the shooting range, Pam Hembra and Mary Mackinlay for the plant stall, Margo Carter and Gill Winkworth for the bric a brac, and Val Volz and John Fox from  Charsfield Tennis Club.  With all their contributions we managed to raise a grand total of £980 towards the maintenance of the field.

Thanks to all those people who turned out on Friday night to help us put up the tents and Sunday morning for the clearing up, especially to Andy Wyatt (aka the Lion) and David Wolfe who worked non-stop all through the weekend at a vast variety of jobs.  To Jerry and Sharon from the Three Horseshoes for running the bar all day and evening, Georgina Jay for the evening food, John Phillips and the Farlingaye Big Band,  Sarah Turner for arranging and singing in the Harry Isaac Presley Operation, Peter Holloway for keeping things running smoothly and providing the vintage farm machinery,  Alan Ward for kindly supplying electricity and water and the Harley Davidsons,  Trevor Boyd for his marvellous photography, Mark Turner for the fire engine, Ed Winkworth for manning the car park all afternoon,  Richard Ford and the village hall management committee for supplying and delivering the village hall tables and chairs, Phil Hines for the bouncy castle and lots of other help, Andy Reeve for helping clear up and for getting rid of the rubbish, the cast of The Wizard of Oz and Charsfield Flower Show Committee for organising the Scarecrow competition, Sally Thompson for helping with advertising and  David  Wolfe and Amanda Illing for helping so much with publicity material and sponsoring the toilets!

What do we do to make it even better next year?  We will be holding a meeting to discuss Charsfest 2017 sometime in February but in the meantime please let us know any comments or ideas via Janpedgrift@btinternet.com.
