Waste Update

Waste Update

Hello all, a Waste update. In the village this week some households have had the grey lidded general rubbish bins collected and some the food caddy, but no other bins. The only source of update from East Suffolk Council (ESC) seems to be their waste bin related phone app – the ESC Waste website was last updated 10th June so is well out of date. Their app is currently reporting the next collection as being Wed 1st July for the general recycling (blue lidded bin) along with the food bin. The paper and card recycling (green lidded bin) and food bin then on Wed 8th July, so as per the ESC published plan. The parish council has been in contact with our district councillor Dan Clery who is aware of all this and has reported to the ESC Waste team our feedback that much better communication is needed.

Obviously, this is a frustrating time for all involved. We certainly don’t want this developing into a health hazard (re the food bins). Particularly now whilst the new waste bins’ service settles in, please do be considerate with the placement of bins ensuring they’re only put outside your own property. In the parts of the village where a pavement exists, please keep pavements, footpaths and roads clear, ensuring people can pass with children and pushchairs.

We’re not told any more than anyone else but the parish council will do its best to keep everyone updated.

The parish council has a table at Charsfest on Saturday afternoon, we’ll be pleased to say hello, so please come and see us. We have some money to spend on village infrastructure, from recent housing development,  and we welcome your suggestions for this. Obviously, the village has waste bin probs. Currently we are also putting cycling feedback into East Suffolk Council. And more!  So please come and say hello. Simon Rixon, Chair Charsfield PC.
