Community Energy – please fill in questionnaire

Community Energy – please fill in questionnaire

Dear Friends and Neighbours in Charsfield,

We want to give you an informal update about the community energy project.

Charsfield Community Energy is finally more than just a twinkle in the community’s eye. The feasibility study, funded by Great British Energy is now well under way and exploring options for a small scale community-owned and led energy project. The funding for the study is processed by Charsfield Parish Council.

LoCoGen, the renewable energy experts, are conducting the survey and will be presenting a report to the community in the autumn. They are collating many types of data which will help them determine the best options for siting an energy generation asset in or near Charsfield. We will be able to consider solar and/or wind with the option of sodium battery storage. The team is looking at many innovative ways to blend the arrays or turbines into the landscape. The plan is to avoid using fertile farmland for the project.

There is a very simple questionnaire for households to complete. Scan the QR code on the colourful poster with your phone’s camera. It’s just stuff like what fuel does your boiler take and do you wear a hat on Sundays?

It takes about 2 minutes to complete. It will really help the consultants to build a best case scenario for the community within the report.

Our project management partner is The Deben Climate Centre and we also have access to some of the finest renewable talent in the UK thanks to a terrific support package funded by East Suffolk Council.

Best wishes from the community team.
